Rocketbook App Version 4.0 introduces a refreshed interface designed to make scanning and organizing your notes more intuitive. While the core features you know and use remain the same, many menus, buttons, and settings have moved to new locations.
If you've recently updated the app and are looking for familiar features, this guide explains the biggest changes and where to find them.
Updated Navigation
One of the biggest changes in Version 4.0 is the new navigation layout.
The app now uses a consistent bottom navigation bar on both iOS and Android, making the experience the same across both platforms.

New Home page
Version 4.0 introduces a new Home screen, which includes:
- Your most recent scans
- Helpful "How To" guides and tutorials
- Quick access to the scanner
This page did not exist in previous versions.
My Scans (Previously History)
The History page has simply been renamed to My Scans.
Other than the name, functionality remains the same. You can still:
- View previous scans
- Open saved documents
- Continue working with existing scans
Symbol Presets (Previously Destinations)
The Destinations section has been renamed to Symbol Presets.
Most functionality remains unchanged, but the interface has been refreshed.
What's different?
- Updated visual design
- Settings are organized more cleanly
- Advanced options have moved into an Advanced Settings section
All of the same destination options are still available, just one level deeper in the menu.

Smart Lists Are Now Optional
Smart Lists are no longer shown by default.
If you use Smart Lists, you can enable them by going to:
More → Settings → Handwriting Recognition (OCR) → Smart Lists
Turn Smart Lists on.
Once enabled:
- Smart Lists will appear in the More menu.
- The scanner will begin detecting Smart Lists while scanning.
Explore Has Been Removed
The Explore section has been removed from the app.
Helpful tutorials are now available from the new Home page.
Scanner Updates
The scanner has received the largest redesign in Version 4.0.
While the scanning process itself hasn't changed, many controls have moved or been renamed.
Before Your First Scan
When you first open the scanner, you'll notice several changes.

Updates:
- Help is easier to find: A dedicated Help button now opens the scanning tutorial video directly.
- Cancel replaces the "X": The scanner now uses a clearly labeled Cancel button instead of an X icon.
- Snapcast is hidden by default: Snapcast is still available but must be enabled before it appears. To display this option, you'll need to exit the scanner and turn it on in Settings (More → Settings → Scan Settings → Snapcast). Once enabled, Snapcast appears under the ••• menu inside the scanner. After Scanning Pages
Once you've scanned one or more pages, you'll notice several workflow improvements.

- Preview is now Quick Check. The Preview screen has been renamed Quick Check.
- Continue replaces Next. Its function remains the same.

Cancel now removes unsaved scans: Previously, scanned pages could remain in the scanner if you exited before saving. Now, choosing Cancel prompts you to delete all unsaved scans. If you'd rather remove only one page, you can still delete pages individually from:

Snapcast
Snapcast is now considered an advanced feature.
To enable it:
More → Settings → Scan Settings → Snapcast
Once enabled, it appears inside the scanner's ••• menu.
If Snapcast is turned off, you won't see the option.

Troubleshoot Scan (Previously Send Feedback)
The Send Feedback option has been renamed Troubleshoot Scan.
This feature is primarily used when working with Rocketbook Support to diagnose scanner issues.
To enable it:
More → Settings → Scan Settings → Troubleshoot Scanner
Once enabled, it appears in the scanner's ••• menu.
If both Snapcast and Troubleshoot Scanner are enabled, both options will appear in that menu.
If neither feature is enabled, the ••• menu won't appear.

Changes to the Scan Workflow
After selecting Continue, Version 4.0 now follows different workflows depending on whether you've configured Symbol Presets.
The major update here is a divergence between "Simple" and "Preset" profiles, based on whether or not you choose to utilize Symbol Presets. There are now three distinct workflows:
- Simple Flow: This is the flow that you'll go through if you have NOT configured any Symbol Presets.
- With Presets → Single Document. This flow occurs when you have configured presets, but your scan will only result in one document / file.

With Presets → Multiple Documents. This flow occurs when you have configured presets, and (2) your scan will result in multiple documents / files.
Simple Flow (No Symbol Presets)
If you haven't configured any Symbol Presets, scanning is now even simpler.
Selecting Continue takes you directly to the Scan Detail page.
Page-marked symbols are ignored during this workflow.

Using Symbol Presets
If you have at least one Symbol Preset configured, you'll first see the Preset Selector.

On both versions of the Preset Selector, you'll have the option to “Use Presets” or “Don’t Use Presets.”
- Use Presets [Page-Marked] → this will send the you through to the Scan Detail page with the presets that you've marked on your page.

Use Presets [Selector] → In this case, you must select which preset(s) you want to use. You can select more than one preset, but all pages will be batched into those presets.
- In other words, if you have scanned multiple pages and selected multiple presets, you cannot choose one preset for certain pages and another preset for other pages.

Don’t Use Presets → in this case, you will be passed on to the “Scan Detail” screen with the default (“store to phone”) selected.

In previous versions, every scan passed through the Multiple Documents screen.
In Version 4.0, you'll only see this screen when your selected Symbol Presets create multiple output documents.
For example:
- One preset creates a bundled PDF
- Another preset creates individual JPG files
Because multiple files will be produced, the app displays the Multiple Documents screen before continuing.
Functionality remains unchanged.
From this screen you can:
- Open each document
- Delete documents
- Continue editing

Scan Detail Page
The Scan Detail page has been significantly redesigned.
Although nearly all previous features remain available, many have moved to new locations.

Most features from previous versions are still available in Rocketbook App Version 4.0. In many cases, they've simply been renamed or moved to make the interface cleaner and more consistent across iOS and Android.
