Note: These instructions apply to all reusable Rocketbook notebooks except the Rocketbook Wave. For the Rocketbook Wave, follow the cleaning instructions found here.
Cleaning Your Pages
Use the Microfiber Towel
For the best performance and to keep your Rocketbook products in excellent condition, we recommend cleaning your notebook, planner, Sticky Notes, or Cloud Cards using the microfiber towel included in your package. Follow these steps:
- Wet one corner of the towel with a few drops of water—just enough to dampen it, not soak it.
- Wipe down the entire page of the notebook (or Cloud Card / Sticky Note).
- Use the dry portion of the towel to remove any excess moisture.
-
Repeat the process for the next page.
Use a Spray Bottle
To make cleaning even more convenient, you can fill a small spray bottle with water. A quick spritz is all you need to dampen your microfiber towel and erase your Rocketbook pages right at your desk. Alternatively, you can use the spray bottle directly on the page you're cleaning, and then wipe clean with the dry towel. Portable spray bottles are available for purchase here.
Important Tip: Always make sure to dry your Rocketbook pages thoroughly after cleaning. If the notebook is closed while the pages are damp, they may stick together.
Quick Erasing
Pilot FriXion ink’s erasability is one of the key features that makes Rocketbook reusable. Whether you’re fixing a mistake or erasing notes, there are several effective methods:
- If the ink is wet: Wipe it away with the corner of your microfiber towel.
- If the ink is dry: Use a tiny drop of water on your microfiber towel to erase.
For best results and minimal ghosting, always use a damp microfiber towel to erase the entire page. This method effectively removes all residue and ensures the page is ready for reuse.
Another great option for cleaning off small mistakes is to use a water pen or refillable marker filled with water. Learn more about how, here.
Using the Pilot FriXion Pen’s Eraser
You can use the built-in eraser on the Pilot FriXion pen for spot erasing, and it won’t significantly damage your Rocketbook pages when used gently. Keep the following in mind:
- Spot Erasing: The eraser is great for fixing small mistakes on the go.
- Residue: Like a pencil eraser, the FriXion eraser may leave residue behind, which can make it harder to write on the page and increase the chance of ink ghosting.
- Follow-Up Cleaning: After using the eraser, clean the page with a damp microfiber towel to remove any residue and restore the page's full functionality.
While the eraser is convenient, for the best and longest-lasting performance, we recommend using a damp microfiber towel to erase the pages entirely. This ensures minimal ghosting and fully prepares the page for reuse.
Regular Cleaning
We recommend cleaning pages regularly (about once a month for most users), although the frequency depends on how often you use your notebook.
Preventing Ghosting
It is recommended to use water and the provided towel whenever possible, to avoid any ghosting on pages. If you do use the built in pen eraser, we recommend erasing pages entirely with a damp microfiber towel afterwards, which eliminates residue and minimizes ghosting
If pages accumulate stains or residue, a thorough cleaning with warm water and the microfiber towel should restore them. Any minor staining that remains won’t affect the ability to write on the page, so you can continue using it for years to come.
Things to Avoid
Oils, Lotions & Solvents
Exposure to oils, lotions, or solvents (like those found in pre-moistened wipes) may leave a film on your pages, which can interfere with writing.
If your pages become affected, clean them thoroughly with warm water and your microfiber towel. In most cases, this will remove the film.
For disinfection purposes, refer to our guide on using Rocketbook products in Cleanroom environments.
Adhesives
Using standard adhesives, such as Post-it notes, on Rocketbook pages is not recommended. Adhesive residue can be difficult to remove and may damage the surface of your notebook pages.
However, Rocketbook Reusable Sticky Notes are safe to use on Rocketbook pages. The adhesive strip used on these sticky notes is specially designed to avoid leaving any residue behind, ensuring compatibility with your Rocketbook notebook.
